During day and evening sessions, 85,219 students took the 2018 Grade 8 Final Examination in government and private schools. Among these, 67,903 students, accounting for 78.9%, scored 50% or above. The Head of the Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau, Dr. Zelalem Mulatu, stated that the collaborative efforts made with various stakeholders during the 2018 academic year resulted in significant achievements. He noted that the examination results are encouraging and reflect the success of these joint efforts.
Dr. Zelalem also explained that the strategies implemented during the 2018 academic year to improve Mathematics and English education have been reflected in the students’ improved performance. He further emphasized that the City Administration’s strong commitment and investment in the education sector contributed to these positive results. He expressed his appreciation to the examination department professionals who worked day and night tirelessly to complete the marking process in a short period and ensure the timely release of the results, as well as to the leaders who supported the entire process.
The Deputy Head of the Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau, Mr. Samson Melese, announced that 85,737 students sat for the Grade 8 Leaving Examination across the city administration during the 2018 Ethiopian academic year.
